Making a wedding cake decoration is not all that difficult in as much that you have patience and sufficient period with easy and admirable decoration approach. But you must be experienced in baking. For you to make a wedding cake decoration, then you need a specific recipe on wedding cake decorations.

Here are the step by step approaches to wedding cake decorations as it is good for three tiers of 12”, 9” and 6” with large quantity of icing:

1. Cooling and torting: After baking your wedding cake, in 2 days before the wedding, allow the cake to cool for 30 minutes. Put your knife round the cake pan (inside), turn the pan upside down and allow the cakes to come out of the pan, though warm. After total cooling of the cake, wrap with foil until you are ready for cake decoration. When you are ready to decorate firstly start with the largest size and divide into 3 equal layers. You can use cake leveler to level it out or use thick filling like preserves, raspberries and icing.

Wedding Cake Decorations 2. Filling the layers with fresh raspberries and preserves: Put the lower part of the third layer that was cut on a round circle cardboard bought form cake stores. Arrange the thin layer of raspberry preserves on it and place the layer of fresh raspberries on it. Do not let it be too thick but sufficient to cover other slices.

3. Addition of cream cheese icing to the layer: Add a tablespoon of cream cheese icing, put in dollop round the layer at the bottom. With the help of offset spatula, arrange the icing on the raspberries to have a flat surface. After this, put the middle layer on it and do the same process in (2) and place the top layer on the middle layer to have a design of 3 layered bottom tier of your wedding cake.

4. Icing the layers with crumb layer of icing: Your three layers must consist of raspberry preserves, fresh raspberries and cream cheese icing in-between each of the layer. You can then put icing dollops on the top. Then use spatula to smooth on the top and side of the cake. This is all crumbs and gum them. After this, you can put the biggest tier inside the fridge for 30 minutes and at the same time continue with the other cake tiers. Do the same process of 2 and 3 to the other tiers.

5. Cake layer and straw supports: At this level, the cake could be decorated one by one and place on the table or better still a suitable cake stand can be used. At this stage, there is no collapsing risk. You can stop here and live the rest till wedding morning. The next thing to do is to support the cake tiers with plastic drinking straws. Dip a straw at the middle of the bottom tier and use pen to mark 1/8” up the icing. Bring out the straw and use it as a measurement to cut more straws which must be at the same length with it. Now dip all the straws cut which are of the same length to the bottom tier at 2” deep. After which the bottom tier is placed on the serving platter. Put the middle tier on the top of the bottom tier straws. Ensure that it leveled to accommodate the stability of the middle tier. Perform the same process for middle tier in order to support the top part.

6. Provide a smooth final layer of icing: add the final layer of icing and then smooth it for 20 minutes to an hour. You do this based on how smooth you want it to be.

7. Decorating the wedding cake with flowers: this is not strenuous. It is just 5 minutes work but if it is a very complicated concept, it will consume much time.

8. Wedding cake platter decoration: This decoration is based on your selection or what you desire. For instance, addition of edible roses or petal roses.

9. Addition of monogram: This is based on your experience in wedding cake decoration idea. It will take 5 to 30 minutes.
